FORESTRY 1

These photos show our 2015 forestry engine, which housed at station 1 in downtown. This vehicle helps our firefighters respond quickly and effectively to grass, brush, and forest fires.

  • Firefighting Strength

    • A special 260 gallon-per-minute pump provides high pressure water flow to fight fires up steep terrain.

    • A 250-gallon water tank allows crews to start working right away, even without a hydrant.

    • Foam equipment is on board to improve the effectiveness of water in fires that burn deep into trees or the ground.

  • Forestry Hose

    • The truck carries special firehose that is light and made to handle the high water pressures needed to get water to forest fires.

  • Portable Water Supply

    • This truck carries special light weight fire pumps that can deliver high pressure water for forest fires from remote ponds and streams.

This truck is designed to access difficult to reach vegetation fires in backyards, class 6 roads, and powerline trails. This vehicle is also used to access injured people in the same areas or when flood water has covered roadways along the river. Additionally, this vehicle is used to clear roadways from downed trees during storms.
