These photos show our 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe command car. This vehicle is assigned to the Fire Chief whose office is at station 1 in downtown.
Driver Console
The Driver Console contains controls for emergency lights, sirens, speaker, and two radios. It also contains charging holders for cell phones, portable radios, and a tablet. The tablet provides call information, mapping, pre-plans, known hazards, water supply, and other information.
Command Module
The command module is a mobile command and control center used to manage incident resources and needs. It contains check sheets and other organizational material for various incidents, task assignment and completion, staff accountability, and more. File folders contain department forms for investigation, witness statements, patient contact, worker injury, and more. The module also contains logistical equipment for hazard marking, scene control, access, and more. The command module contains controls for the vehicles two radios. One radio is used for communicating with dispatch while another is used for tactical incident communications. The dispatch channel is used to dispatch resources and handle regular calls for service while the tactical channel is utilized to coordinate fireground conditions, actions, and needs.
Equipment
Some emergency equipment that is carried in the vehicle include personal protective equipment, SCBA, first aid kit, AED, rescue task force/ mass casualty coordination equipment, lighting, and more.
This special service vehicle (SSV) Tahoe is a non-pursuit rated emergency SUV. It comes with a dual battery setup to handle all of the special electrical components and changing needs of an emergency vehicle, has a more robust cooling and suspension system. It does not come with roof racks, third row seats, or other common consumer needs.
This vehicle is used to support logistical needs, command and control, and calls for service.
