The Goffstown Fire Department is an authorized industry partner for the Department of Defense's SkillBridge Program. This internship program provides civilian work experience to service members looking to transition into the fire, rescue, and EMS civilian professions.
DOD SkillBridge interns at the Goffstown Fire Department work Monday through Friday 0800hrs to 1600hrs. Interns work under the direct supervision of department instructors during trainings and emergency calls. Interns respond to and operate at all incidents department personnel respond to but are restricted to warm zone activities. They may however enter the hot zone during training. Interns continue receiving their military compensation and benefits while participating in the program gaining training and work experience. Housing, meals, and transportation are not provided by the Department.
The Goffstown Fire Department DOD SkillBridge Internship is open to any active-duty military personnel with at least one of the following certifications:
- NREMT Basic
- NREMT Advanced EMT
- NREMT Paramedic
- Firefighter I
- Firefighter II
