Raised in South Hadley, MA, Rick graduated from South Hadley High School in 1981 before continuing his education at Norwich University, where he played football and earned a degree in Recreation Business Management in 1985.
Rick's career in the recreation and community services field began in 1985 when he joined the YMCA. Over the next 23 years, he worked at various YMCA locations, including Holyoke, MA, Northampton, MA, Goffstown, NH (Allard Center), and Concord, NH. During his tenure, Rick served in a variety of roles, such as Aquatic Director, Program Director, Sports Camp Director, Fitness Director, Day Camp Director, Senior Program Director, and Associate Branch Director. His dedication to enhancing community programs and providing youth and adult activities helped strengthen each branch he worked with.

In March 2010, Rick became the Director of Parks and Recreation for Goffstown, where he continues to lead and innovate community-focused programs. His leadership has shaped the development of numerous recreational offerings and facilities for residents of all ages.
Beyond his professional work, Rick is deeply passionate about outdoor activities, which include skiing (both downhill and cross-country), hiking, biking, camping, and swimming. His love for sports extends into his long-standing commitment to officiating, where he has dedicated 33 years to officiating basketball, 22 years to football, and 15 years to lacrosse. Rick's extensive experience as an official has not only earned him great respect within the officiating community but has also deepened his knowledge of the intricacies of various sports, allowing him to bring a nuanced understanding to both coaching and community programming
Rick also values spending time with his family, including his wife of 38 years, Tina, and their two black labs. They enjoy skiing together, especially with their son, Joseph.
Rick’s diverse career, dedication to community service, and love for sports and the outdoors have made him a well-respected figure both professionally and personally. His contributions to his community, his leadership in recreational programming, and his commitment to officiating continue to have a positive and lasting impact.
"I enjoy the opportunity to help all ages (pampers to grampers), find enjoyment through health, recreation, and leisure activities. The most gratifying adventure is to see people socialize, simile, laugh, and work hard. I like to say, 'Have so much fun it hurts."'
